Rev. Ruth I. Waite October 15, 2018 Job

Job 3:1-7; 23:1-9,16-17

After seven days sitting in silence with his three friends, Job breaks the silence by cursing the day of his birth.  His view of who God is has been shattered.  The friends, too, try to hang on to their old ideas about God–especially that those who are right with God will be blessed and protected.  Job shows us how to hang on when our ideas about God have crumbled and we are forced to face our disillusionment and fear.
